Proceedings of an international seminar, Manila, Philippines, 27-30 May 1985. Postharvest practices and problems in Indonesia are reviewed. The major pests of milled rice are the curculionid Sitophilus spp. and the tenebrionid Tribolium castaneum, while minor pest species include the pyralids Corcyra cephalonica and Ephestia kuehniella and the bostrichid Rhyzopertha dominica. Pirimiphos-methyl is used extensively as a spray and methyl bromide and phosphine are used for the fumigation of stores and ships. Pesticide application is part of a programme which has 5 parts.
